Street Style Inspiration

I started a fashion course last Saturday with a company called Fashion Futures. They take us through the whole design process, from research to making a toile. We have a series of workshops including life drawing and print making and at the end the 20 best people get chosen to make their designs in the correct materials and then we'll have a show at London fashion Week in September! How amazing is that! The course only costs £150 but if you apply through your school then hopefully they should be able to pay for you. So if you're going to be in year 12 or 13 next year and you live in London or Manchester then I'd definitely reccomend that you apply next year. 

Our first homework was to look for inspiration in street style around the world and I found so many amazing outfits so this is going to be a longggg post. 

I loved this balenciaga skirt when I first saw it on the runway and I love it even more on Anna Della Russo.

I never thought that I'd want a black tutu but now I feel like I NEED one...

I love this patchwork denim dress.

I remember when Molly Goddard first came out with her Asos collection, I think I did a post about. I could never had guess that someone would've worn this pink tutu type over dress like this but I like how original it is. 

I would never wear these shoes, just sit and admire them :p

Ugh this dress is so beautiful it makes me kind of sad.

She really makes me want to wear a suit.

This Louis Vuitton dress would look perfect on anyone. I like how she kept the accessories really simple.

This is just so pretty and I love her cat eye sunglasses.

All black is the way to go, wish her shoes wear black as well but she still looks quite fab.

My Job at London fashion Week: Palmer//Harding

A few months ago I emailed every single brand showing at London Fashion Week asking for either press tickets or if hey need any volunteers to help out backstage and praise the heavens someone actually got back to me!

Palmer//Harding emailed me me yesterday asking me if I could volunteer to be a dresser for them and of course I said yes without hesitation. 

Although I'd heard of them before, I wasn't fully aware of the brand's image and clothing so I've been doing loads of research. Palmer//Harding was founded in 2011 by Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding and design both menswear and womenswear. Both designers are MA graduates from Central Saint Martins (dream university!). 

Oddly, their speciality is shirts. Palmer//Harding's aim is to make a classic wardrobe staple interesting and aesthetically beautiful again. They don't do knits, they don't do prints- they simply focus on shirts. Because of their very unique niche, Palmer//Harding were instantly noticed by press and have been featured in both British and American Vogue.

Omg how fabulous are those blue trousers!

I love the simple elegance to all of their clothes.

Seriously though the draping on this shirt is just beautiful.

OOTD 15/1/14

I've been buying a lot of black clothing recently, not really sure why but it's definitely inspired me to go for some all black outfits this week. Here's what I wore yesterday:

I bought an amazing dress black dress from Primark for only £5 and here I'm wearing it as a skirt with a plain black jumper on top and my black boots which are from New Look.

Blogger Interview: Rachel Farrell!

Rachel Farrell is a vintage loving, 15 year old fashion/beauty blogger who had an extremely successful year in 2013. Rachel started her own fake nails business, she was a finalist for the Irish Young blogger Award and has been Kiss magazine and many other blogs. I love her style and how she mixes thrifter, vintage items with a modern twist.

Obvious question but why did you first get into blogging?

I had been reading fashion and beauty blogs for a few years, and read magazines monthly. Journalism in particular was [ and still is] my main career option and I knew I needed an outlet to express myself and practice my writing. One day, a couple of months after I made my blog, I just began blogging regularly!

Three words you would use to describe yourself?

Creative, mature and fun!

You're very interested in nail art and design. I love how you've started your own fake nail design business at just 15 years old. How did that come about? Do you have any advice for someone your age wanting to start their own business?

Ive been doing nail art for over 5 years now, so I started young. Ive always been a nail fanatic! over years Ive come to almost perfect my skills and a few years ago I did try offering nail painting services in my town, with no response. People always tell em they wish they could do my nails, so I figured why not do them for them? I called it RCouture Nails, [R for Rachel] and although its only beginning Im hoping it works out. I would just say go for it! Dont let people question your age and make you feel like youre not good enough- thats something I fight against. Just because Im young doesnt make me inexperienced!

You've have quite a lot of success in 2013 such as becoming a finalist for the Irish
Young Blogger Award, congratulations :) Any little secrets or tips to succeeding in blogging?

Aw thank you! That was quite a surprise, in all honesty. I would say to blog when you want, take clear photos- you dont need an expensive camera, just knowledge. Double check for spelling mistakes, and be friendly!

I read that you're an avid thrifter, me also, what are some of your luckiest thrift shop finds?

Probably a vintage clutch from the 1950s that I bought for €10, and also a pair of Kurt Geiger boots that I bagged for €3- score!

Finally, do you have any plans this year for your blog or are you just going to go with the flow?

Well, Ive already made a few changed to the layout, so that was one of the plans I had for 2014. I also want to gain more experience, keep improving my writing, use social media effectively and hopefully gain more followers!

Lavish Alice Bloggers Competition

I'd never heard of Lavish Alice before someone told me about this competition but I definitely won't be forgetting them any time soon. The competition is to design an outfit that you'd wear to London Fashion Week and the best one wins their outfit. There are so many amazing clothes that Lavish Alice sells that it was hard to choose one outfit but here's what I came up with.

I love the geometric dungarees, I don't actually own a pair and these ones are perfect. I also really like this style of shoe, New Look has a similar pair. The bright red colour really stands out and even though my toes would be freezing if I wore them to lfw it would so be worth it! Then I chose some retro sunglasses (even though I doubt it'll be sunny in February) and a blue clutch to accessorize. I'd also wear a plain white shirt or t-shirt underneath and loadssss of rings.

How to have your own style

STOP GIVING A FUCK ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK AND WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT.

Go for it! If anyone has a problem with what you're wearing that's their problem not yours. Nobody has the right to make you feel bad about how you choose to dress. Once you realise this you'll feel so much freer about your fashion choices and it also helps with confidence and self assurance. Just always remember, you don't have time to care what other people think.
