Style Crush: Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler's love of mid riff tops, tartan and a-line skirts is definitely one to compete with my own, and that's saying something considering my current obsession with bare midriffs. Being the daughter of rock legend Steve Tyler and ex-playboy/model/actress Bebe Buell, Liv Tyler pretty much has the perfect genes and throughout the 90s her fashion sense was on point.

I first fell in love with her influential style when I watched the film 'Empire Records'. That mini tartan skirt is to die for and I've been searching for a jumper just like hers for ages now! 

Liv Tyler made 90s grunge  girly and gave those of us who love the music of Nirvana but don't want to look like them, the perfect inspiration. 

She's that rare combination of sexy  it still incredibly cute that every woman craves to be. Simple, effortless outfits with minimal accessories and a belly button on show is the only way to channel Liv Tyler's gorgeous style. I only wish I could share a wardrobe with her...

OOTD: Born in the 90s

Crop tops, plaid and jelly shoes= 90s fashion in less than 10 words. Today I was definitely channelling the effortless grunge look that was popular in the 90s.  I'm wear a grey jersey crop top that I made, a 'leather' mini from New Look and a plaid cardigan to add some colour to the outfit. And of course my beloved new jelly shoes, I'm pretty sure I had a similar pair when I younger!

Thrift Shop Find

Every Saturday I volunteer for a few hours and I'm always finding the cutest clothes at bargain prices. Yesterday I bought a pair of men's tartan trousers and I think I'm in love with the pattern. Recently I've been going through this phase where I love everything tartan.

Because they're men's trousers, theyre quite large on me- especially around the waist. However, they must have been made for a short man because they only just reach my ankles. Because of this and the fact that the hem has a rip in it I'm going to make them into a cute pair of Capri pants.

I've been looking at the construction of the trousers for quite a while now and I have to admit, I'm a little confused...

I've never worked with trousers before let alone men's trousers which are constructed differently to men. If anyone has thoughts on how I make them smaller without completely destroying this beautiful garment please comment.
